Media invited to virtually interview Coast Guard member in Maryland on boating safety
PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Coast Guard boating safety experts from Coast Guard Sector Maryland - National Capital Region will be available for a virtual interview on Friday, to discuss important boating safety measures as the summer approaches.
WHO: Lt. Cmdr. Lee Gorlin, Chief of Response for Coast Guard Sector Maryland - National Capital Region.
WHAT: Provide tips, best practices and helpful guidance for a safe, enjoyable on-water experience.
WHEN: Media must RSVP no later than 8:30 a.m., Friday, May 22. To RSVP, call 757-513-2087. Interviews will be available starting at 1 p.m., Friday, May 22.
WHERE: Virtually, from a Coast Guard unit near you. A representative from Coast Guard Sector Maryland - National Capital Region will be available for a video-recorded telephone interview.
Every spring, people are drawn back to their favorite boating activities. The Coast Guard searches for those who go missing or when empty craft are found. More people may be out on the water this year as they seek more socially distant ways to enjoy the outdoors.
Video recordings will accompany a phone interview as internet speed does not support high quality streaming in all areas.
