SUBJ: RESERVE COAST GUARD DEFENSE INNOVATION UNIT (DIU) OFF-SEASON ASSIGNMENT
SOLICITATION
A. Reserve Policy Manual, COMDTINST M1001.28 (series)
1. Off-season assignment opportunities exist for the following positions at
Coast Guard Reserve Defense Innovation Unit (DIU), located at Mountain View,
CA:

2. This message announces exciting reserve opportunities at the newly created
DIU. The CG is taking a total force approach to building its innovation
workforce and the CG Reserve will be a critical part of that effort. DIU
reservists will support the management of projects seeking commercial
solutions to emerging capability gaps in the CG and across the Department of
Defense (DoD).
3. DIU strengthens national security by accelerating the adoption of
commercial technology throughout the military and growing the national
security innovation base. DIU is the only DoD organization focused
exclusively on fielding and scaling commercial technology across the U.S.
military and is focused on five technology areas: Artificial Intelligence
(AI), autonomy, cyber, human systems, and space. For additional information

4. Reservists and active duty members considering AY2020 release from active
duty (RELAD) into the CG Reserve are being solicited for assignment to DIU.
For the LT, SCPO and PO2 positions, e-resumes will be accepted one grade
above or below these pay-grades.  
5. Applicants shall apply via e-resume in Direct Access. The Member Comments
section of the e-resume must include information concerning the applicant’s
past or current experience in the areas of acquisitions, AI, autonomy, cyber,
human systems, space, related certifications, and current security clearance
level. Active duty members shall also include their potential RELAD date.
Ideal candidates are highly motivated and have a firm understanding of CG
operations and capabilities; project management background is a plus. 
6. Command endorsements are required for reservists as follows: 
A. Reservists who have already received AY20 PCS orders must obtain a
favorable command endorsement from their gaining command.
B. Reservists who are not tour complete must obtain a favorable command
endorsement from their current command.
C. All command endorsements shall include backfill requirements and
willingness to absorb a billet gap.
7. These assignments are standard tour lengths as described in REF A. 
8. E-resume through Direct Access must be submitted NLT 22 MAY 20. A properly
approved CG-2002 emailed to the RPM POC below will be accepted if a member
cannot provide a Direct Access e-resume. E-resumes received after the
application deadline will not be accepted.
A. CG-926 will review all applications and schedule follow-on phone
interviews. Applicants must ensure their Direct Access contact information is
accurate.
9. Effective assignment date will be OOA 1 OCT 20.
