WHAT: The Coast Guard is awarding the Silver Lifesaving Medal to a member who saved a man from drowning
WHEN: Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: 1500 15th Street, Mobile, AL 36615, Coast Guard Sector Mobile pier
NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard is scheduled to present the Silver Lifesaving Medal to a member who, at his own wedding, swam out and saved a man from drowning off Orange Beach, Alabama, on Aug. 2, 2018.
The Silver Lifesaving Medal is awarded to any member of the Coast Guard who rescues, or endeavors to rescue any other person from drowning, shipwreck, or other peril of the water within the United States or subject to U.S. jurisdiction.
Rear Adm. John Nadeau, commander, Eighth Coast Guard District will present the medal to Petty Officer 2nd Class Zac Edwards, a marine science technician at Coast Guard Sector Mobile, for his lifesaving actions.
