SUBJ: 2020 SOCIETY OF AMERICAN INDIAN GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES (SAIGE)
MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD
1. This ALCOAST solicits nominations for the 2020 Society of American Indian
Government Employees (SAIGE) Meritorious Service Award. The award honors
service members and civilian employees, who have supported the U.S. Coast
Guard (CG) mission, or whose attributes best epitomized the qualities and core
values of the service for the performance period January 2019 to March 2020.
2. All CG service members and civilian employees are eligible for the
SAIGE award.
3. All nominations will be evaluated according to the following criteria:
    a. Significantly contributed to their agency’s government to government
interaction with American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN) tribes.
    b. Contributed to promoting greater understanding of the AI/AN culture.
Provide specific examples of both on and/or off duty actions.
    c. Demonstrated support for inclusion and promotion of all government
personnel within the workforce.
    d. Promoted a positive image of AI/AN serving in government service.
4. Nominations shall include the following:
    a. A brief narrative describing the nominee's accomplishments warranting
the recognition specific to the award (not to exceed two pages).
    b. Citation highlighting the accomplishments of the nominee, not to exceed
12 lines.
    c. A single-space biography of the nominee not to exceed one page.
    d. A digital photograph of the nominee (.jpg format).
    e. Command cover memo, with signature, forwarding the package.
    f. Award Nomination Transmittal Form. For a copy of this form,
please contact the Point of Contact (POC) below.
5. Items A thru C of paragraph 4 must be in MS Word with 12-point font,
single-spaced with one-inch left and right margins. These documents may
not be scanned or in .pdf format. Do not include PII information in
nomination packages.
6. Nomination packages must be forwarded as email attachments,
to the POC, Mr. Juan Torres, juan.l.torres@uscg.mil, no later than
April 3, 2020. For additional information, call 202-372-4594.
7. COMDT (CG-00H) will send all nominations to SAIGE for consideration
and final selection. The award recipients' commands will be notified by
phone. An ALCOAST will announce the winner(s).
