SUBJ:  SOLICITATION FOR 2020 CAPT DOROTHY STRATTON AND MCPO PEARL FAURIE WOMEN’S
LEADERSHIP AWARD NOMINATIONS
A. Recognitions Program Manual, COMDTINST M1650.26 (series)
1. Sponsor: Coast Guard Office of Diversity and Inclusion, COMDT (CG-127) is the
award sponsor IAW REF (A) and is soliciting nominations for the 2020 CAPT Dorothy
Stratton and the MCPO Pearl Faurie Women's Leadership awards.
2. Award(s): The CAPT Dorothy Stratton Leadership Award honors the first director
of the Coast Guard Women’s Reserve, SPARS, and recognizes a woman officer, active
duty or reserve, in the pay grades of W2 through O-4 who has demonstrated exceptional
leadership. The MCPO Pearl Faurie Leadership Award honors the first woman Master
Chief Petty Officer in the Coast Guard and recognizes an active duty or reserve
enlisted woman in paygrades E-4 through E-8 who has demonstrated exceptional leadership.
These awards will be presented at the 2020 Sea Services Leadership Association (SSLA)
Joint Women's Leadership Symposium (JWLS), which will be held 18-19 June 2020 in
Norfolk, VA.
3. Eligibility requirements: (a) Demonstrated by example, inspirational, innovative
and imaginative leadership and mentorship on and off duty; (b) made significant
decisions that resulted in lasting improvements in working conditions and quality
of life for their peers, subordinates, and the Coast Guard; and (c) exemplified
the Coast Guard core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty. See REF (A)
for more information.
4. Nomination: CO/OICs may nominate one active or reserve member per award, who
has not previously received this award. Nominations shall cover the period from
January 2019 to December 2019 and be submitted in memorandum format from the
member’s CO/OIC, or first O-6/GS-15 in the chain of command addressed to
COMDT (CG-127). Nominations shall be no longer than three pages. If CO/OIC is
nominated, endorsement shall be from the next senior command. Sample memoranda

5. Deadline: Nominations must be received by COMDT (CG-127) NLT 01 April 2020.
Submit nomination memos to the following inbox: HQS-SMB-JWLS@uscg.mil.
COMDT (CG-127) will convene a panel to select the recipient and the selection
will be announced via ALCOAST approximately 45 days after the application deadline.
