MEDIA ADVISORY: Coast Guard, partner agencies to hold Super Bowl security zone press briefing

Editor’s Note:  Media interested in attending must RSVP with the Coast Guard 7th District Public Affairs duty officer at 786-367-7649 no later than 8 a.m. Only credentialed media will be granted access to the event. Media must arrive no later than 9:30 a.m.

WHAT:  Press briefing about Coast Guard security zones during the Super Bowl. 

WHEN:  Friday, Jan. 24, 2020 at 10 a.m.

WHERE:  Coast Guard Base Miami Beach, 100 MacArthur Causeway, Miami, Fla., 33139.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard and partner agencies are scheduled to hold a press briefing Friday, to discuss the establishment and enforcement of security zones in Biscayne Bay in connection with Super Bowl-related events in Miami.

Coast Guard and local law enforcement marine units will enforce the safety zone beginning at 8 a.m., Sunday through 8 a.m., February 3, 2020. All persons and vessels will be required to transit the security zone at a steady speed and may not slow down, stop, or anchor except in the case of unforeseen mechanical failure or other emergency.

 

Any person or vessel forced to slow or stop in the zone shall immediately notify the Coast Guard via VHF channel 16.
