SUBJ:  2019 PROMOTING EXCELLENCE IN PREVENTION AWARD (SEXUAL ASSAULT)
1. Each year DOD Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office sponsors recognition
for an individual, group, or unit from each Military Service for their work in
promoting excellence in the prevention of sexual assault.
2. Programs, practices and policy implementation, at any level of the organization,
are eligible to compete for this award. This award will recognize those who have
undertaken significant efforts, ongoing or completed, leading to demonstrable
outcomes or helpful changes within their sphere of influence. Stand-alone awareness-
raising activities such as fun runs, walk-a-mile, single marches, executed outside
of a comprehensive prevention strategy are not considered sufficient by themselves
to rise to the intent of this award.
3. The nominee must meet the following eligibility requirements:
    a. The nominees must be military members or federal government civilians; neither
anonymous nor contractor personnel submissions are eligible.
    b. The nominee’s activity must have been implemented within the award period from
01 July 2018 – 30 September 2019. If a nominee executes a permanent change of station
or is transferred, the unit where the member completed the action may still consider
and submit the award nomination on behalf of their former member based on the award
period.
    c. The nominee(s) must have no disciplinary action in the two years preceding the
award period. Anyone with a conviction, non-judicial punishment, or punitive or
administrative action for sex-related offenses is not eligible regardless of the time
period of the offense.
    d. All nominees will be evaluated against the award criteria. Only one final
individual or group will be nominated for this recognition by the USCG to DOD.
4. Nominations for the Excellence in Primary Pr-evention Award (Sexual Assault) must
include the unit or individual’s name, brief biography, citation, and narrative
consisting of an overview of the nominated activity, the nominee’s activity, description
of how the activity addressed risk and/or protective factors for sexual assault, details
of any collaboration that occurred within the activity, and a description of how the
activity is being evaluated and the impact.
