Waterways Status – Pipeline Operations at MM 49.5

 

Mariners are advised that pipeline operations are currently taking place on the Right Descending Bank (RDB) at Mile Marker (MM) 49.5, Lower Mississippi River, Above Head of Pass (AHP). Mariners are advised to utilize caution when transiting the area. The below Broadcast Notice to Mariners is currently being transmitted.

 

LA - MISSISSIPPI RIVER, MILE 49.5, AHOP - Pipeline Operations

Commencing approximately January 13, 2020 and continuing until approximately February 25, 2020, Providence Engineering & Environmental/Gulf South Pipeline Company, LP., will install sand/concrete bags to remediate exposed sections of two existing 12-inch pipelines in the Mississippi River, at Mile 49.5, AHOP, RDB, in approximate position 29-34-37.40N 089-48-26.45W, in Pointe A la Hache, Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.  Work will take place 12-hours a day, 7-days a week but vessels and equipment will be on scene and anchored 24-hours a day, 7-days a week and will be lighted in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations.   Tug BRANDY NICOLE, Tug CHERYL ANN, M/V MR. GUY, one anchor tug and various other barges will be on scene and anchored.  Four anchors will be placed in the river during construction.  They will contain lighted marker buoys and all anchor cables will contain lights.  Tugs and on scene vessels will monitor VHF-FM Channel 67.  Mariners are urged to use caution when transiting the area.
