1. I am pleased to announce that the FY20 Reserve Judge Advocate (RJAG) Program
Training Seminar will be held 20-24 April 2020 at CG Headquarters in Washington, DC.
2. The biennial RJAG Program Training Seminar incorporates over 30 hours of
workshops and training modules for Reserve lawyers, paralegals, and other support
staff. Workshops and training modules refresh and enhance the skill sets and
preparation necessary to provide exceptional forward-deployed legal support during
Coast Guard contingency operations. Sessions also provide additional opportunities
for professional development. Annual training seminars lead directly to completion
of critical training objectives required for the Contingency Missions Lawyer (CONT-LAW)
competency. Additional information regarding the RJAG Program is available on the
CGPortal: https://cg.portal.uscg.mil/communities/rjag/SitePages/Home.aspx.
3. All Coast Guard Reserve personnel assigned to RJAG Program billets IAW REF (A) are
expected to participate, unless excused in advance by the RJAG Program Senior Reserve
Officer at RJAG Team HQ in consultation with the member's Team Lead and supervising
Staff Judge Advocate.
4. Participation is also open to and encouraged for all other Coast Guard Reserve
personnel with previous, current, or future RJAG Program affiliation.
5. Please RSVP NLT 01 MAR 2020 by emailing LCDR Kevin Crews at Kevin.R.Crews@uscg.mil.
6. A memo will be sent to all confirmed participants with additional details about
the location and other logistics.
7. Attendees are responsible for securing necessary unit administrative approval
(i.e., orders) and funding.  Generally, attendees will use ADT-AT or IDT orders and
associated funding. Alternatively, members and units are encouraged to seek ADT-OTD
or other funding via the applicable Reserve Force Readiness Branch (dxr) or, when
requested by a member, approve Inactive Duty without pay IAW REF (B) section 2.D, or
permissive orders IAW REF (C).
8. POC: LCDR K. Crews, RJAG Program Training Manager, RJAG Team HQ.
