CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard located and hoisted a missing hunter on Ossabaw Island, Georgia, Friday.

A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew located, hoisted and transported the hunter to Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) personnel to a nearby clearing.

At 2 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center watchstanders received a request from Georgia DNR for aircraft assistance for a missing 61-year-old hunter on Ossabaw Island. The Dolphin crew launched to assist in the search and were able to locate the hunter by spotting his strobe light.

The hunter was safely transferred to Georgia DNR personnel in good condition.
