SUBJ:  REISSUE PERMANENT PROMOTION OBLIGATED SERVICE FOR VOLUNTARY RETIREMENT

1. This ACN announces immediate changes to REF (A). 
2. This ACN is a reissue of REF (B). 
3. Commandant Change Notice 1000, CH-6 to REF (A), promulgated revised criteria
applicable to an Active Duty Officer’s Request for Voluntary Retirement
enumerated in section 1.C.9.a.(1). Due to an editing error, CH-6 to REF (A)
inadvertently omitted the provision requiring an officer to “complete the
two-year obligated service requirement incurred for a permanent promotion.
(An officer will not be promoted if he or she has an approved voluntary
retirement on file).”
4. Omission of the permanent promotion obligated service provision in section
1.C.9.a.(1) of REF (A) was an administrative error. There has been no change
to the existing policy requiring completion of the obligated service for
permanent promotion prior to being eligible for voluntary retirement. REF (A)
will be updated to correct the administrative error and be released within the
next year.
5. Policies and standards in REF (A) not specifically addressed in this ACN
remain unchanged.
