NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Long Island Sound Area Maritime Security Committee is scheduled to be recognized as AMSC of the Year for 2018, Tuesday in Niantic.
After 9/11, the Maritime Transportation Security Act was signed into effect, which required the establishment of AMSCs. The 43 AMSCs throughout the nation enhance communication between federal, state and local agencies and industry partners to foster a culture of security within the maritime environment.
Being named the AMSC of the Year requires committee members to consistently demonstrate a commitment and significant contribution to maritime safety and security in their region.
Media interested in attending are asked to RSVP to Connecticut Army National Guard Capt. Dave Pytlik at (860) 883-5336.
