SUBJ:  2019 USCG CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO) ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS
A. Recognitions Program Manual, COMDTINST M1650.26 (series)
1. This ALCOAST solicits nominations for the 2019 USCG CFO Awards for Excellence
IAW Chapter 10 of REF (A).
2. This award program provides recognition for noteworthy financial management
accomplishments by Coast Guard personnel. The 2019 nominations should reflect an
emphasis on outstanding performance, innovative thinking, and improved methods in
financial management.
3. There are eight individual award categories and a team category for the
USCG CFO Awards for Excellence:
    a. Commissioned Officer O-4 and above,
    b. Commissioned Officer O-1 to O-3,
    c. Civilian Employees GS-13 and above,
    d. Civilian Employees GS-9 to GS-12,
    e. Civilian Employees up to GS-8,
    f. Chief Warrant Officer,
    g. Enlisted Personnel E-7 and above,
    h. Enlisted Personnel E-6 and below, and
    i. Team Achievement consisting of 4 to 20 personnel.
4. Any Coast Guard employee may be nominated for a USCG CFO award. It is not
necessary for the nominee to be assigned to a financial, procurement or logistics
management position. The period for the awards is the calendar year ending
31 December 2019. Commands may nominate as many individuals or teams as desired in
each category. Nominations for these awards do not preclude nominees from receiving
other awards, such as a DHS CFO Award, personal award, or cash/time off award, for
the same action. All nominations shall be submitted IAW REF (A).
5. Submission instructions, specific categories and other details for USCG CFO
Awards are found in REF (A). Submit nominations using the Recommendation for
Award for Excellence/Certificate of Recognition, Form CG-5374. The proposed citation
box must not exceed 14 lines of Times New Roman text. Citations exceeding 14 lines
will be returned to the nominating command.
6. Nominations shall be submitted by email to: Dianne.S.Trawick@uscg.mil.
Hard copies of nominations will not be accepted. All nominations must be received
by 09 January 2020. Team award submissions shall include a list of team members,
identifying the team leader and each team member citing first name, middle initial,
last name, position, title, rank, unit address and unit phone number.
7. COMDT (CG-8) will convene a panel of Coast Guard resource managers the week
of 13 January 2020 to review the nominations and recommend awardees. Members from
the financial management, comptrollership, acquisition, procurement, and logistics
communities who wish to be considered for membership on the selection panel should
email their request to Dianne.S.Trawick@uscg.mil by 06 January 2020. COMDT (CG-8) will
choose the members of the selection panel. USCG CFO Award winners will be announced
in the Spring of 2020.
