Coast Guard, local agencies searching for a person in the water near Empire, Louisiana
NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard and local agencies are searching for a person in the water near Empire, Louisiana, Monday.
Missing is Mark Matherne from Slidell.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at approximately 1:30 p.m. of a sunken vessel approximately six nautical miles southwest of Empire, Louisiana.
Matherne's boat was found sunk in the vicinity of Shell Island Bay, Louisiana.
Involved in the search are:
- Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew
- Coast Guard Station Venice 29-foot Response Boat-Small boat crew
- A 24-foot Special Purpose Craft—Shallow Water boat crew from Coast Guard Station Grand Isle
- Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries
- Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office
