Update: Coast Guard suspends search for a person in the water near Destin, Florida
NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard suspended its search for a person in the water near Destin, Florida, Friday.
Coast Guard air and boat crews spent over 130 hours onscene and searched more than 4,909 square-nautical miles over the course of four days but were unable to locate the airman.
Involved in the search were:
- Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew
- Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew
- Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew
- Coast Guard Station Destin 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crews
- Coast Guard Station Pensacola 45-foot Response Boat-Medium boat crew
- Coast Guard Cutter Gannet crew
- Coast Guard Cutter Benjamin Dailey crew
- 24th Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field Air Force Base
- 1st Special Operations Wing, Hurlburt Field Air Force Base
- Special Tactics Squadron, Hurlburt Field Air Force Base
- 96th Test Wing, Eglin Air Force Base
- U.S. Army 7th Special Forces Group, Duke Field
- Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office
- Escambia County Sheriff's office
- Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
