Coast Guard, TGLO responding to hydraulic oil spill near Corpus Christi, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard is responding to an estimated 1,500 gallon hydraulic oil spill in the La Quinta Ship Channel near Corpus Christi, Texas, Thursday.
Coast Guard Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders received a report Wednesday of a hydraulic oil spill from the dredge Richard Laquay in the La Quinta Ship Channel.
Personnel from Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi Incident Management Division and Texas General Land Office were launched to the scene. A vacuum truck, a skimmer, containment and absorbent boom and absorbent pads have all been deployed. The source of the release, a ruptured hose, has been secured and the spill has been contained.
Coast Guard and Texas General Land Office personnel will continue to monitor recovery efforts. The cause of the incident is under investigation.
