Coast Guard conducts waterways analysis study of Yaquina Bay, seeks public comment
NEWPORT, Ore. — U.S. Coast Guard officials are seeking public comments while conducting a waterways analysis and management system (WAMS) review of Yaquina Bay.
The Coast Guard uses WAMS to validate the adequacy of existing aids to navigation (ATON) systems, such as buoys and light structures. The system helps gain a better understanding of current waterway use and general safety issues.
WAMS focuses on waterways ATON systems, marine casualty information, port/harbor resources, changes in marine vessel usage (both recreational and commercial) and future development projects.
The Coast Guard will host a public meeting at Englund Marine and Industrial Supply on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., to hold discussions and gather public input regarding the current ATON serving Yaquina Bay.
The meeting will be held at 880 SE Bay Blvd., Newport, OR, 97365.
