Media invited to ride along Coast Guard Cutter James

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Members of the media are invited to ride along during the Coast Guard Cutter James’ transit to homeport Thursday at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center.

The James will be returning to Charleston following a 61-day counter-drug patrol in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and completing an offload of approximately 28,000 pounds of seized cocaine worth an estimated $367 million and approximately 11,000 pounds of seized marijuana worth an estimated $10.1 million at Port Everglades.

WHO: Members of the media

WHAT: An opportunity for members of the media to record footage, take pictures and conduct interviews.

WHERE: Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, 2000 Bainbridge Ave., North Charleston, SC 29405

WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 31 at 9:30 a.m. for a 2-3 hour transit. Media interested in attending are asked to arrive no later than 9 a.m.

There is only room for four members of the media.

Media interested in attending are asked to RSVP with Dennis Bradford at 843-818-8870 or dennis.f.bradford@uscg.mil. Media interested in attending will also need to be vetted prior to accessing the facility and are asked to fill out Section A of the FLETC Visitor Acces Request Form and email it to Dennis.F.Bradford@uscg.mil before Wednesday. All vehicles entering the facility will need to be screened.
