ALCGOFF 147/19 SUBJ: SOLICITATION FOR ARCTIC FRONTIERS EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAM 1. The Coast Guard Center for Arctic Study and Policy (CASP) at the Coast Guard Academy is soliciting for the following funded academic engagement opportunity: Participation in the 2020 Arctic Frontiers Emerging Leaders Program. This program brings together early career professionals for leadership development in the High North. Participation in the program is limited to junior officers age 35 or younger with operational experience in the polar regions who are looking to expand their professional competence in an international venue on topics of Arctic security, economic development, and environmental protection. The selected candidate will join 30 other participants from Arctic nations in a blend of technical, social, and cultural events accompanied by various mentors from business, politics, and academics. The program takes place from 20-28 January 2020 in multiple locations in the Norwegian Arctic. 2. Interested officers should submit a single page memo via email directly to the POC in para (3). The memo should describe experience in the polar regions as well as scholarship interests related to the program. Memo applications are requested by COB 1 NOV 2019 and must include a command endorsement permitting the TDY dates above to support the program.
