SUBJ:  2019/2020 USCG ICS CERTIFICATION BOARD APPLICATION GUIDANCE

1. The Office of Emergency Management & Disaster Response (CG-OEM) is pleased to
announce the release of the 2019/2020 USCG Incident Command System (ICS) Certification
Board application guidance. The guidance outlined in this message replaces that
previously released in REF (A).
2. The USCG ICS Certification Board is the annual convening mechanism for awarding
Type 1 and Type 2 ICS certification in 30 different nationally recognized ICS positions.
Members desiring to apply for the 2019/2020 USCG ICS Certification Board are encouraged
to reach out to their local unit ICS Coordinator while using the following resources to
develop applications:
    a. U.S. Coast Guard ICS Certification Board Guide
    b. U.S. Coast Guard ICS Certification Application
    c. U.S. Coast Guard ICS Experience Worksheet
    d. U.S. Coast Guard ICS Supplemental Experience Worksheet
3. All relevant resources, including an ICS Coordinator roster, are available on the
ICS Program & Coordinator Portal at:
https://cg.portal.uscg.mil/units/cgcpe/SitePages/ICS%20Coordinators.aspx.
4. The deadline for all applications to the local ICS Coordinator is December 1st, 2019.
ICS Coordinators will then route applications according to appropriate routing chain
procedures and timelines as outlined in the above listed resources. All reviewed
applications will be received by COMDT (CG-OEM) by March 1st, 2020. The 2019/2020
U.S. Coast Guard ICS Certification Board will convene in March 2020.
