CHARLESTON, S.C. — Coast Guard crews rescued two boaters Saturday after their 37-foot sailing vessel became disabled near Wassaw Sound, Georgia.
An MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew from Air Station Savannah arrived on scene hoisting the boaters from a life raft.
Coast Guard Sector Charleston watchstanders were notified via a mayday call at 4 p.m. by the boaters of the sailing vessel "Meander" becoming disabled. The boaters abandoned the vessel to a life raft when the vessel became unstable and started to drift.
The boater's emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) activated giving crews the location of the vessel.
There were no reported injuries.
The owner is planning to salvage the vessel located near Wassaw Island.
