Coast Guard suspends search for missing woman near Land's End
SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard ended its search for a 24-year-old woman Saturday morning.
At 8:36 a.m. a Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco helicopter crew discovered a body matching the description of the missing woman.
A Coast Guard Station Golden Gate boat crew recovered the body and transferred the body to Station Golden Gate where a Marin County Coroner met them.
Around 8:25 p.m. Friday, San Francisco Fire Department members contacted Coast Guard Sector San Francisco watchstanders reporting a missing Caucasian woman with dark hair last seen in the vicinity of Mile Rock Beach near Land’s End.
Crews from Station Golden Gate, Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco, the Coast Guard Cutter Hawksbill, San Francisco Fire Department and San Francisco Police Department were involved in the search.
"We extend our heartfelt condolences for what we know is a very difficult time for the family," said Capt. Marie Byrd, Sector San Francisco commander.
