HONOLULU — The media is invited to the commissioning ceremony for the Coast Guard Cutter William Hart (WPC 1134) at Coast Guard Base Honolulu, Thursday.
The commissioning will commence at 10 a.m. with a ceremony followed by a reception. Lt. Cmdr. Laura Foster, the William Hart’s commanding officer, will be available for interviews immediately following the ceremony.
The William Hart arrived in Honolulu from Lockport, Louisiana, on Aug. 17.
The Sentinel-class fast response cutter (FRC) is the Coast Guard’s next generation of patrol boat, replacing the aging Island-class vessel, which has been in service since 1985. The new FRCs boast advanced command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance systems while providing a larger, more stable, and safer platform from which to conduct operations.
