PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard and Army Corps of Engineers are inviting media to attend a tour of Lynnhaven Inlet aboard a Coast Guard aids-to-navigation boat to discuss the continuing joint agency effort to replace pylons with buoys at 10:15 a.m., Monday.

“The benefit of buoys is that they’re more easily maintained or adjusted as situations such as shoaling dictate,” said Chief Warrant Officer Jason Brussin, Waterways Division for Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads. “This change will provide the most value, in terms of safety, to the local maritime community.

Media interested in this availability are encouraged to coordinate their participation with Petty Officer 1st Class Stephen Lehmann at uscgd5publicaffairs@gmail.com as space aboard the vessel is limited.
