NORTH BEND, Ore. — A Coast Guard aircrew hoisted a woman off a cliff in Samuel H. Boardman State Park, Friday afternoon, after she reportedly slid 200 feet down to get closer to the beach.

The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Sector North Bend transported the woman to the Brookings Airport and transferred her to awaiting emergency medical services.

At 1 p.m., watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector North Bend Command Center received a request for assistance from the Curry County Sheriff's Office dispatch reporting a stranded hiker on a cliff. The woman reportedly called 911 after becoming stranded after realizing she could not go up or further down without falling.

The Curry County Sheriff’s search and rescue team located the woman from their helicopter and passed the woman’s position to the Coast Guard aircrew.

The Dolphin aircrew launched at 1:30 p.m. and arrived on scene at 2 p.m. to conduct the hoist. No significant injuries were reported.

The Coast Guard reminds hikers who are enjoying scenic views from the Oregon Coast to stay on the trail as much as possible, and be aware of their surroundings to avoid emergency situations.
