Coast Guard medevacs man 24 miles east of Tybee Island

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 37-year-old man Tuesday from a vessel anchored 24 miles east of Tybee Island, Georgia.

A Coast Guard Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew arrived on scene at 6:16 p.m., hoisted the crewmember and transported him to Memorial Health University Medical Center in stable condition.

At 4:05 p.m., Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center watchstanders received a request for a medevac from the motor vessel Vienna Express after a crewmember reportedly suffered a lower-body injury.
