New York — The Coast Guard invites members of the media aboard Coast Guard Cutter Bear on the Anniversary of 9/11, Wednesday, to observe the rendering of honors.
The Bear, a 270-foot, multi-mission ship, will be underway on the Hudson River near World Trade Center site and will render honors at 9 a.m. This ceremonial maritime tradition involves crewmembers lining the rails while rendering a salute.
This will be a unique opportunity for members of the media to embark with the crew to get a behind-the-scenes look at how our women and men keep the public safe in the maritime environment. Coast Guard members will be available for interviews.
Members of the media interested in attending are asked to RSVP to Coast Guard Public Affairs at PadetNewYork@gmail.com or call (917) 703-0983. A small boat will depart from North Cove Marina at approximately 7:30 a.m., Wednesday to take media to the Bear.
