Coast Guard announces port openings in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Dorian

Ports in eastern Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands under Port Condition ZULU remain closed until further notice

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Coast Guard Captain of the Port San Juan set Port Condition FOUR at 8:30 a.m. Thursday opening the ports of San Juan and Arecibo, Puerto Rico.

Ports in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands under Port Condition ZULU will remain CLOSED under until further notice, these ports are:

  • Culebra, Puerto Rico
  • Fajardo, Puerto Rico
  • Vieques, Puerto Rico
  • Ceiba, Puerto Rico

  • Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
  • Saint Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands
  • Saint John, U.S. Virgin Islands

The COTP anticipates setting Port Condition FOUR at 10 a.m. Thursday reopening the ports of Guanica, Guayama, Guayanilla, Mayaguez, Ponce, Salinas, Tallaboa and Yabucoa, Puerto Rico.

During Port Condition FOUR, port facilities are currently open to all commercial vessel traffic and port transfer operations may continue.
