Waterway Status - Temporary Safety Zone – Cox Bay

The U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port New Orleans, under the authority of the Ports and Waterways Safety Act, will establish a temporary safety zone on August 21, 2019, in Cox Bay, LA, consisting of a one-half mile radius around position, 29.47501 N, 089.62645 W. This safety zone is needed to protect persons and vessels from the potential safety hazards associated with environmental response activities, consisting of in-situ burn operations. This rule is effective from August 21, 2019 at 6:00 a.m. until August 22, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. local time.

All vessels are prohibited from entering the safety zone unless they have been granted permission by the Captain of the Port New Orleans or designated representative. Only vessels participating in the operations and pre-designated vessels are permitted within the safety zone after 6:00 a.m. on August 21, 2019.
