SUBJ: COAST GUARD MWR PROGRAM OF THE YEAR AWARD

1. In accordance with Ref A, I am pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 MWR Program of the Year Award for outstanding achievement in the delivery of MWR programs and services.
2. Here are the winners in each category:
     a. Large Unit Ashore

     b. Medium Unit Ashore
         1. First Place: AIRSTA Atlantic City
         2. Second Place: Base Cleveland
         3. Third Place: Sector New Orleans
     c. Small Unit Ashore
         1. First Place: AIRSTA Houston
         2. Second Place: Sector Lower Mississippi River
         3. Third Place: Civil Engineering Unit Providence
     d. Large Unit Afloat
         1. First Place: CGC EAGLE
         2. Second Place: CGC HAMILTON
         3. Third Place: CGC TAHOMA
     e. Medium Unit Afloat
         1. First Place: CGC ISAAC MAYO
         2. Second Place: CGC PAUL CLARK
         3. Third Place: CGC ROBERT YERED
      f. Small Unit Afloat
         1. First Place: CGC SOCKEYE
         2. Second Place: CGC MARLIN
         3. Third Place: CGC KICKAPOO
3. Award recognition will be forwarded to each command for presentation at an appropriate award ceremony.  One thousand dollars will be awarded to each of the first place winners in each category, 750 dollars will be awarded to each of the second place winners in each category, and 500 dollars will be awarded to each of the third place winners in each category.  Further guidance will be provided to these units when funds are transferred.
4. Congratulations to all award winners for taking the time to participate in the MWR Program of the Year Award and recognize the contributions MWR makes to support the readiness, retention, and resiliency of the Coast Guard family.
5. I would like to thank all the commands that took the time to submit nominations for the MWR Program of the Year Award.  All nominations are worthy of recognition and we urge them to submit nominations again next year.  They include:
