Coast Guard medevacs mariner approximately 57 miles offshore Vermilion Bay, Louisiana
HOUSTON — The Coast Guard medevaced a 59-year-old man approximately 57 miles offshore of Vermilion Bay, Louisiana, Sunday afternoon.
Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request from an offshore supply vessel stating that a crew member was experiencing symptoms of a heart attack and was in need of medical assistance. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac.
An Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was launched to the scene, where the helicopter crew hoisted and transferred the mariner to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
The man was reported to be in stable condition.
