Coast Guard medevacs mariner 8 miles offshore Cameron, Louisiana

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard medevaced a 54-year-old man approximately 8 miles offshore of Cameron, Louisiana, Monday morning.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders received a request from the fishing vessel Sea Horse stating that a passenger was in need of medical assistance. Watchstanders consulted with the duty flight surgeon who recommended the medevac.

A Station Lake Charles Response Boat-Medium boat crew was launched to the scene and transported the mariner to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at the Calcasieu River ferry dock.

Weather on-scene was reported as 3-foot seas and 10 mph winds.
