Coast Guard Cutter Eagle to visit Portsmouth, New Hampshire

BOSTON — Media is invited to attend the arrival of the Coast Guard Cutter Eagle at the Port Authority State Pier, Thursday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Who: Capt. Michael Turdo, commanding officer, Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, and Capt. Brian Lefebvre, U.S. Coast Guard, captain of the port for Portsmouth.

What: Coast Guard Cutter Eagle, 'America's Tall Ship,' is scheduled to visit Portsmouth, New Hampshire, Aug. 1-5 and lead the parade of sail for Sail Portsmouth.

When: Thursday, Aug. 1, at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Portsmouth Port Authority State Pier

The 295-foot Barque Eagle is set to dock at the Portsmouth Port Authority State Pier Thursday, Aug. 1, and will have the following free and public tour schedule:

Friday, Aug. 2: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 3: 12 - 5 p.m.

Sunday, Aug. 4: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

First responders and military members will be able to tour the Eagle from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. on Friday and Sunday.

A permanent crew of eight officers and 57 enlisted personnel maintain the Eagle and guide Coast Guard Academy cadets through an underway and in-port training schedule, dedicated to learning the skills of navigation, damage control, watchstanding, engineering, and deck seamanship.
