Coast Guard to discuss crackdown on illegal charter boat operations

BALTIMORE — Members of the media are invited to interview Coast Guard members about illegal charter boat operations at the Annapolis City Dock, Tuesday.

Who: Coast Guard law enforcement officers and search and rescue experts

What: Discussion on the penalties for operating an illegal charter boat, and how passengers can identify and report an illegal charter

When: Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.

Where: Annapolis City Dock visitors center -1 Dock St. Annapolis, MD 21401

Illegal charters are not certified by the Coast Guard or held to federal safety standards, which poses a threat to both passengers and crew. People caught operating an illegal charter operation could be subject to arrest and significant fines.

Coast Guard members will be available to discuss the issue of illegal charters on Tuesday at the Annapolis City Dock at 10:30 a.m.
