SUBJ: 2019 MCPO PEARL FAURIE LEADERSHIP AWARD RECIPIENT
1. I am pleased to announce that AET3 Jaqueline Olszewski, currently assigned to
Air Station Sacramento, CA, is the recipient of the 2019 Master Chief Pearl Faurie
Leadership Award.
2. The MCPO Pearl Faurie Leadership Award was established in 2001 and is named in
honor of MCPO Pearl Faurie, who on 1 January 1964 was the first SPAR to achieve
the rank of E-9. The MCPO Pearl Faurie Leadership Award honors the first woman
Master Chief Petty Officer in the Coast Guard and recognizes an active duty or
reserve enlisted woman in paygrades E4 through E8 who has demonstrated exceptional
leadership.
3. AET3 Olszewski was recognized by her command for her inspirational and innovative
leadership. She made significant efforts that resulted in the improvement of work
conditions and the quality of life for her peers and subordinates. This award will be
presented at the 32nd Annual Joint Women's Leadership Symposium in Washington, D.C.,
on August 22-23.
4. Petty Officer Olszewski is currently assigned to Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento
as an Avionics Electrical Technician third class. As a key member in the Aviation
Engineering Avionics Shop, AET3 Olszewski is deeply involved with maintenance and
repair of the Coast Guard’s newest fixed-wing asset, the HC-27J Spartan medium-range
surveillance aircraft. In her position, she is responsible for troubleshooting,
maintenance and repair, as well as operations of the aircraft’s communication suite,
navigational instruments, and weather detection software. In addition, she is very
active in all flight operations as a qualified HC-27J Loadmaster, Instructor, and
Basic Aircrew Member. As an exceptional technician and aircrew member, she has
demonstrated not only expertise in her aircraft well above her paygrade, but also
takes an active role to mentor others. AET3 Olszewski’s nomination write-up can be
