Media Availability: Coast Guard to host underway opportunity for media to see holiday operation area, speak with local agencies
HONOLULU — Media are invited to observe the operation area the Coast Guard will be patrolling over the upcoming Fourth of July holiday.
Media will have the opportunity to embark our 154-foot Fast Response Cutter, U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Gerczak (WPC 1126), and speak will multiple state and federal agency representatives:
-U.S. Coast Guard
-Department of Land and Natural Resources
-Emergency Medical Services
-Hawaii Police Department
-Hawaii State Fusion Center
-National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
-Ocean Safety
-Honolulu Liquor Commission
-State of Hawaii Department of Health
Operation Dry Water, coordinated by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators, in partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard, puts thousands of local, state and federal law enforcement officers on the shore and water nationwide to raise visibility of BUI enforcement. These officers are not only on the lookout for boaters who drink, but they are also providing boating safety education and awareness materials.

WHEN: Monday, July 1. Media should arrive at Coast Guard Base Honolulu no later than 9:30 a.m. with an expected underway time of 10 a.m.
WHERE: Coast Guard Base Honolulu, 400 Sand Island Parkway, Honolulu, HI, 96819.
Media will be met at the front gate and escorted.
