Coast Guard seeks participants in Ports and Waterways Safety Assessment on Corpus Christi Bay

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is soliciting for members of the public to participate in a Corpus Christi Bay Ports and Waterways Safety Assessment workshop in September.

A PAWSA is a longstanding and proven process for formal public study that the Coast Guard has sponsored and led over 50 times nationwide since 1999.

It’s a joint effort involving waterway users, stakeholders, and agencies to focus on identifying major waterway safety hazards, estimating risk levels, and evaluating risk mitigation measures.

Participants will convene at a meeting location in the Corpus Christi, Texas metropolitan area (exact venue location to be determined) September 11-12 for a structured workshop with facilitated sessions aimed to ensure the environmental protection and safe navigation of the Corpus Christi Bay waterway system.

The Coast Guard will select participants based on their waterway expertise and create a broad cross-section of Corpus Christi Bay stakeholders.

Members of the public who wish to participate in the workshop are invited to provide their name, contact information, connection to the waterway, experience, and related skills to CCWaterways@uscg.mil by July 19, 2019.

Formal invitations to selectees will follow.

More information about the PAWSA process and previously conducted workshops can be found here: https://www.navcen.uscg.gov/?pageName=pawsaMain
