Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast holds change of command ceremony during Portland Rose Festival

The Steadfast is a 210-foot Medium Endurance Cutter homeported in Astoria, Ore., and has been in service for 50 years.

The Steadfast was commissioned in 1968 and has completed more than 340 search and rescue cases, interdicted more than 1.6 million pounds of marijuana and 75,000 pounds of cocaine, seized 80 vessels and stopped more than 3,500 undocumented migrants on the high seas.

The change of command ceremony is a time honored tradition that formally transfers command from one officer to another.
