UPDATE 2: Coast Guard, agencies continue search for person in the water near Texas City, Texas

HOUSTON — The Coast Guard, along with multiple local, state and federal agencies continue to search Saturday evening for Chief Chris Reed, Kemah Chief of Police, who fell overboard from a vessel north of the Texas City Dike, near Texas City, Texas.

As of 9 p.m. Saturday, the Coast Guard has searched approximately 650 square nautical miles.

The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Tiger Shark will remain on scene in Galveston Bay and search throughout the evening, as well as vessels from assisting agencies.

A Coast Guard Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew, Air Station Corpus Christi C-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew, and Station Galveston boat crew have concluded their search for the evening. They will resume their search at first light Sunday. 

Approximately 19 agencies assisted in the search, along with 25 volunteer vessels and numerous patrols along the shoreline.
