Coast Guard medevacs diver 2 miles east of Little River Inlet
CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 47-year-old diver Friday 2 miles east of Little River Inlet.
At 10:45 a.m., Coast Guard Sector Charleston Command Center watchstanders received a report of an unresponsive female aboard the dive boat Safari IV. The diver regained consciousness and was experiencing signs of decompression sickness.
An Air Facility Charleston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew launched to assist. North Myrtle Beach Police Department also launched to assist with EMT support.
The Dolphin crew arrived on scene, hoisted the diver and transported her to the Hamilton Owens Airport where EMS was waiting to take her to receive higher medical care.
