SUBJ:  SOLICITATION FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2019 COAST GUARD
FOUNDATION ANNUAL SALUTE TO THE COAST GUARD
A. Recognition Porgrams Manual, COMDTINST M1650.26 (series)
1. This message solicits nominations for recognition at the Coast
Guard Foundation’s Annual Salute to the Coast Guard in New York,
NY on 03 October 2019. The Coast Guard Foundation sponsors the event
to generate support and increase public awareness and understanding of
the Coast Guard.
2. Criteria and eligibility requirements per REF A:
   a. The period of consideration is 01 May 2018 to 30 April 2019.
   b. All U.S. Coast Guard units, staff elements, and personnel (active,
reserve, auxiliary, and civilian) are eligible for nomination.
   c. Nominations should be submitted for individual, crew, or unit
performance of Coast Guard missions while in a duty status, and for
individuals who have performed heroic or lifesaving acts while on
duty.  Heroism and lifesaving are not exclusive criteria.
   d. Recognition through formal personal award processes does not
preclude consideration for this award. If nominees have already been
recognized through the formal personal recognition process, a copy of
personal or unit awards presented or being processed for the actions
should be included with the submission.
3. Submission procedures:
   a. The next senior person in the nominee’s chain of command should
submit nominations via the applicable office having administrative
control over the recommended individual or unit.
   b. The nomination shall be submitted in a memo format, not to exceed
two pages, listing the details of the action. Recommendations must be
forwarded through the chain of command, and the respective Area, DCMS
or DCO, to PSC-PSD-MA to arrive NLT 12 July 2019. Areas, DCMS, and DCO
should consolidate nominations prior to forwarding to PSC-PSD-MA via
email at ARL.AWDSBOARD@uscg.mil. HQ offices not within the DCO or DCMS
chain of command should forward nominations directly to PSC-PSD-MA.
4. Personnel should contact their unit awards administrators for all
award related questions. Units should direct questions to ARL.AWDSBOARD@uscg.mil.
