SUBJ:  TRAINING MANAGEMENT TOOL (TMT) DATA ENTRY GRACE PERIOD AND TRACKING SPREADSHEET
A. COMDT COGARD WASHINGTON DC 070906 MAY 18/ACN 045/18
B. Cutter Training and Qualification Manual, COMDTINST M3502.4 (series)
1. REF (A) announced the establishment of a 30 day grace period for recording and tracking
training requirements while the cutter is underway and experiencing connectivity issues.
This included TMT and/or Direct Access (DA) entries for cutter drills/exercises, individual
cutter watch station certifications and individual cutter watch station currencies on paper.
2. The 30 day grace period continues to be authorized and will be formalized in the next
update to REF (B), which will be released within the next year. However, when connectivity
at sea or in ports other than homeport allows, cutters should make every reasonable effort
to keep TMT and DA updated.
3. Individual units may determine their own format for tracking TMT and DA entries on paper
until connectivity is reestablished. In order to provide a uniform approach to data tracking,
COMDT (CG-751) has created a cutter training tracker spreadsheet. Commands may tailor this
spreadsheet to meet the needs of their respective cutters. It can be found on the COMDT
(CG-751) portal site at: https://cg.portal.uscg.mil/units/cg751/SitePages/Home.aspx under
the Training tab.
4. Questions regarding this policy can be directed to Mr. Dennis Thorseth at
Dennis.C.Thorseth@uscg.mil or CWO3 Ian Christian at Ian.P.Christian@uscg.mil.
5. Released by RDML Michael P. Ryan, Assistant Commandant for Capability.
6. Internet release is authorized.
