Coast Guard Sector Mobile to hold National Safe Boating Week Events
NEW ORLEANS – Throughout National Safe Boating Week members from Coast Guaed Sector Mobile and the Coast Guard Auxiliary will be visiting local boat ramps, conducting vessel safety checks, and answering safe boating questions.
This year’s National Safe Boating Week is Saturday through May 24. The slogan for this year’s campaign is “Wear It.” The campaign focuses on the proper usage and fitting of life jackets for all on-the-water activities.
Main events include:
- May 17 – 19, Pell City, Alabama – The Coast Guard Auxiliary will be at the Pell City Lake Fest to answer boating safety questions and conduct vessel safety checks.
- May 18, Destin, Florida – Coast Guard Station Destin is holding an open house to discuss boater safety and tour Coast Guard assets.
- May 21, Destin, Florida – Station Destin will hold a search and rescue demonstration to highlight Coast Guard assets and capabilities.
“We look forward to positive interactions and teaching moments to increase on the water safety throughout the summer boating season,” said Ensign Andrew Goetz, Sector Mobile.
