PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads command cadre members will be available for media interviews on boating safety from May 17 to 24.
Capt. Samson Stevens, deputy commander, Sector Hampton Roads, is available on the morning of May 17, which is also National Wear Your Life Jacket to Work Day.
Master Chief Petty Officer Alyson Pulkkinen, Sector Hampton Roads command master chief and boatswain's mate, is available for interviews the mornings of May 20 to 22.
Capt. Kevin Carroll, commander, Sector Hampton Roads, is available the morning of May 23.
All three command cadre members will discuss the importance of life jackets, boating hazards in Hampton Roads, essential equipment every boater should have, and other aspects of boating safety.
National Safe Boating Week is a campaign during which the National Safe Boating Council, Coast Guard, and other federal, state, and local agencies promote safe boating practices prior to Memorial Day Weekend.
