BIMINI, Bs.— The Coast Guard rescued a man from the water 12 miles northwest of Bimini Saturday.

Rescued was Robert Matheson.

Coast Guard Seventh District Command Center watchstanders received a distress alert from a 24-foot pleasure craft 12 miles northwest of Bimini. The Coast Guard Cutter Heron (WPB-87344) crew and a Coast Guard Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew launched to assist. 

The MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew arrived on scene, located and hoisted the male from the water after observing a vessel doing circles with no one aboard and transported him to Coast Guard Air station Miami where an emergency medical services received the survivor for further medical assistance with no injuries reported.
