UPDATE: Coast Guard continues to search for overdue boater between Cozumel and Tampa

MIAMI — The Coast Guard is continuing to search for an overdue boater who was reported missing Sunday during transit from Cozumel, Mexico to Tampa, Florida.

Missing is Grant Neie, 74.

Coast Guard 7th District command center watchstanders received a report from Neie's wife stating he was aboard the 38-foot sailing vessel, Nai'a, transiting from Cozumel to Tampa. The vessel is described as a white twinhull sailboat with blue trim and white sail. The Coast Guard initiated an enhanced group call and a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater HC-130 Hercules aircraft crew along with a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft crew initiated the search.

Currently searching is a Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-130 Hercules aircraft crew, a Coast Guard Auxiliary aircraft crew and the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Kathleen Moore.
