Coast Guard searches for overdue boater between Cozumel and Tampa

MIAMI—The Coast Guard is searching for an overdue boater who was reported missing Sunday during a transit from Cozumel, Mexico to Tampa, Florida.

Missing is Grant Neie, 74.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard 7th District command center received a report from Neie's wife stating he was aboard the 38-foot sailing vessel, Nai'a, transiting from Cozumel to Tampa. The vessel is described as a white twinhull sailboat with blue trim and a white sail. The Coast Guard initiated an enhanced group call and a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater HC-130 Hercules airplane crew along with a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew is searching.

The Mexican Navy is also searching.
