RUGBY SEVENS CHAMPIONSHIP

1.  The Coast Guard Rugby Team will participate in the 2019 Women’s Armed Forces
Rugby Sevens Championship in Wilmington, NC from 29 June to 7 July 2019.
2.  Participation is open to all female active duty members and reservists on active duty
orders. Members wishing to participate should plan to arrive on 29 June 2019 for training
camp and team selections.  Training camp will commence 29 June and conclude on 4
July 2019. Team selections will be made at the conclusion of training camp. The
tournament will commence on 5 July and conclude on 7 July 2019.  Any updates to the
training camp dates will be provided by the Rugby Team Director.  All members and
athletes interested in applying must contact CGRugby@uscg.mil to receive the
application information. The application is due NLT 6 May 2019.
3.  The team will represent the Coast Guard in competition against the other four military
services with potential follow-on competition with national all-star teams and select
sides.  Participation in this event may lead to further selection to the All Armed Forces
Rugby Team.
4.  In accordance with Ref A, Commands are encouraged to support their active duty
members’ participation in the Armed Forces sports program.  Participation on an Armed
Forces team brings credit to not only our service members, but the United States military
as a whole.
5.  Members selected for a try out to represent the Coast Guard in the Armed Forces
Rugby Sevens Championship will be funded by the Community Services Command.

to the Armed Forces Sports Representative, CWO3 Mark Durning, Coast Guard
Community Services Command (CSC), at Terry.M.Durning@uscg.mil, or to the Rugby
Team Director, LCDR Andrew Somplasky at Andrew.J.Somplasky@uscg.mil.
7.  Completed applications must be sent to CWO3 Mark Durning, Coast Guard
Community Services Command (CSC), at Terry.M.Durning@uscg.mil.  CSC will
endorse and forward all approved applications to the Rugby Team Manager.  Completed
applications sent directly to the Rugby Team Manager will not be considered.
