Coast Guard responds to vessel taking taking on water off Kings Point, N.Y.
NEW YORK – The Coast Guard rescued a man from a vessel taking on water near Kings Point, New York, Saturday morning.
At approximately 6:50 a.m., Coast Guard Sector New York command center received notification that a 56-foot recreational boat was taking on water with one person aboard.
Sector New York watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a Station Kings Point 29-foot Response Boat – Small boatcrew to assist the vessel.
At approximately 7:10 a.m., Station Kings Point arrived on scene to and safely transferred the man from the submerged boat.
The man was wearing a life jacket and safely transferred to Station Kings Point to awaiting emergency medical services with no reported injuries.
There are no signs of pollution and the cause of the incident is under investigation.
The Coast Guard reminds boaters to always wear a life jacket. Wearing a life jacket increases the chances of surviving a boating accident.
