Coast Guard, Port of Virginia to host search and rescue forum in Hampton, Va.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads and the Port of Virginia Maritime Incident Response Team are scheduled to host the 13th Annual Steven Todd Dooley Search and Rescue (SAR) Forum Monday - Friday in Hampton.
The SAR Forum is an annual event that continues to strengthen regional interagency partnerships and communication, as well as to improve the life-saving processes and skills required of SAR agencies. More than 35 law enforcement and fire departments from across the Commonwealth of Virginia are scheduled to come together and participate in the weeklong event.
Media members are invited to attend SAR Forum training events Thursday and Friday at the Crowne Plaza Hampton Marina in Hampton. A Coast Guard helicopter demonstration is scheduled for Thursday and boats are scheduled to be available for media ride-along requests.
Coast Guard Capt. Kevin Carroll, Commander, Sector Hampton Roads, will be available for interviews, along with Bill Burket, Director, Virginia Port Authority Maritime Incident Response Team.
